It is said that "a Japanese cockle" is because the form of the foot appearing from a shell is similar to the bill of the bird. The state of the bottom of the sea is good in a bay and lives in the mud flat with much phytoplankton. The shell is a ball circle. The length of the husk is approximately 9cm.
